The Mirador del Cerro de La Cruz
The Mirador del Cerro de La Cruz, located on the top of the hill of the same name that rises above the center of the city of Puerto Vallarta on the east side, faces the sea silently observing the beautiful landscapes of the Mexican Pacific, of Banderas Bay and Vallarta.
It is a place of recreation and spiritual elevation for the locals who know it, from this point you can see the Mexican Pacific from Los Arcos on the south side, the center of Puerto Vallarta and on clear days to Punta Mita.
Climbing requires an excellent physical effort, but the climb will be worth it, there are several routes to get to the Mirador de ‘La Cruz’, one is along Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez street, a straight uphill route whose slope is increasing as you approach the lookout.
The duration to climb to the viewpoint is 15 to 40 minutes, (if you are an athlete the safe duration will be shorter), you can leave before sunset (about 40 minutes before), you have time to rest during the climb and enjoy the show that the famous occasions of Puerto Vallarta give you.
Years ago there was no viewpoint as such, it was only a space around the cross and its base. Now, the new construction of the viewpoint, has stairs, hydraulic concrete, railings and benches.
In these days of intense heat, it is recommended to climb calmly, bring sunscreen and water to hydrate (it will be necessary) Climbing or jogging is an option for athletes. This is not about any competition, who climbs in less time, the ideal is to enjoy this experience as well as the surrounding areas.
Climb to the Mirador del Cerro de ‘La Cruz’, it can become a walk with family and friends, you just have to be sure that children and older adults have strength to walk.
